Sauce can make or break a recipe. You want it to be flavorful without overpowering the rest, or delicate enough to make whatever it tops taste even better. Here are my recipes for the best vegetarian and vegan sauces, from basic to exotic to the ultimate in creamy comfort food.

Alfredo Sauce

A rich and creamy Italian sauce, usually served over fettucine. It’s also delectable in spinach lasagna and with ravioli.

Apricot Cherry Compote

It’s easy to make compote: just stew up some dried fruit and enjoy it with dessert.

Barbecue Sauce

Easy recipe for a tangy barbecue sauce.

Béchamel Sauce

This simple white sauce goes well with flavorful vegetables like broccoli and asparagus, or in lasagne. It can easily be made vegan.

Berry Sauce

This sweet-tart sauce is wonderful on pancakes, French toast, and ice cream.

Cashew Cream
