Recipe box: garlic

Garlic has tons of flavor, is good for your heart, and supposedly makes you taste bad to bugs. What more can you ask for? Here are some of my favorite recipes to help you get more garlic into your diet.

Aïoli

If you’ve never tasted this garlicky mayonnaise, you’re in for a real treat.

Artichoke Soup

Vegan artichoke soupThis garlicky artichoke soup is very easy to make.

Baba Ganouj – Roasted Eggplant Dip

Baba ganoujA classic Middle Eastern dip made of roasted eggplant. Delicious!

Bean and Olive Soup

Bean and olive soupWhite beans and black olives combine with various herbs and veggies to make a hearty soup.

Black Bean Soup

This spicy, garlicky black bean soup is hearty enough to stick to your ribs!

Caesar Dressing

Caesar salad often comes with anchovies, which offer a salty, “oceany” flavor. This Caesar dressing uses arame (a type of seaweed) to offer a similar kind of flavor to vegetarians.

Chickpea Piccata

Chickpea piccataChicken-free version of a classic Italian entrée: lemony, garlicky, capery chickpeas served over pasta or mashed potatoes.

Garlic Bread

I eat bread with nearly every meal, especially soup, salad, and pasta (obviously I’m not a low-carb diet fan). Plain French or Italian bread is wonderful, but nice hot garlic bread can be a real treat.
