(noun)  A type of essential fatty acid that is essential for good health.

Flaxseeds are far and away the best vegetarian source of this polyunsaturated fat, with 8.5 grams of omega-3 per tablespoon. Other good vegetarian sources of omega-3 are seaweed, hemp oil, walnuts, canola oil, and dark green leafy vegetables. In addition, foods such as eggs and milk may be fortified with omega-3.
