Broiled Asparagus

Broiled asparagus topped with cheesy bread crumbs is the perfect dish for spring.

Yield 4 servings
Time 10 minutes
Tools
  • baking dish
  • small bowl
  • butter knife
Ingredients
  • 1½ pounds asparagus, steamed
  • 2 T butter
  • ¾ c bread crumbs
  • ¼ c Parmesan cheese, finely grated
Directions Preheat broiler.

Butter the baking dish, then arranged steamed, well-drained asparagus in a single layer.

Cut remaining butter into small pieces, then combine with bread crumbs and cheese. Use your fingers to mix and squish everything together into buttery crumbs. Sprinkle over the asparagus.

Broil 2-3 minutes, until the crumbs just turn golden – check frequently or the crumbs will burn.

Notes To make the most of this recipe, you must use fresh bread crumbs and freshly grated Parmesan – store-bought crumbs and pre-grated Parmesan will detract greatly.
