Chocolate-Nut Candies

These delicious chocolate-nut candies are easy to make and will keep for two weeks (if they last that long!)

Yield 16 candies
Time 15 minutes + 1 hour to chill
Tools
  • knife
  • double boiler or microwave-safe bowl
  • wooden spoon
  • 32 small fluted foil or paper candy cups
  • plate or refrigerator-safe baking dish
Ingredients
  • 7 oz high-quality chocolate (semi-sweet, milk, or white), coarsely chopped
  • about ¾ c toasted almonds, pistachios, peanuts, pecans, and/or walnuts
Directions Melt the chocolate in a double boiler over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth, or microwave for 1-2 minutes and stir until smooth.

Double up the fluted cups so that you have 16 "two-ply" candy cups. Pour some melted chocolate into each, then press the nuts in.

Chill for 1 hour, until set. If you don’t eat them right away, cover tightly and keep refrigerated.

Notes You can use dried fruit like dried cherries, cranberries, apricots, figs, and raisins, either with or instead of the nuts. You can also include fresh fruit like strawberries or cherries, but then the candies will only be good for one day.
