|Feast on grilled tofu at your next cookout.
|20 minutes hands on, plus time to press and marinate the tofu
|Mix the marinade ingredients in the baking dish and add the tofu, preferably in a single layer. Swirl the dish so that the marinade coats each piece.
Every 15-20 minutes, swirl the marinade around and flip each piece of tofu so that both sides spend about equal time in the liquid.
Let marinate for at least 30 minutes, up to several hours.
Lightly oil the grill, then place each piece of tofu on it. Baste with marinade.
Grill for about 5 minutes, until marked, then flip and baste again.
Grill the second side another 5 minutes.
Transfer to a plate or bun. If you like, you can heat the rest of the marinade and drizzle it over the top.
To get a nice crosshatch on the tofu, grill one side until you see marks, then rotate each piece 90 degrees and keep grilling until marked again. Then flip the tofu and repeat on the other side.
