|Yield||about 1½ cups|
|Directions||Heat the oil over medium heat, add onions, and sauté until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
Stir in remaining ingredients and simmer, stirring frequently, for 30 minutes. Add a bit of water as needed to keep it from getting too thick.
|Notes||The sauce will develop more flavor if you leave it in the fridge for a few days, but it’s terrific when freshly made, too.
This barbecue sauce is excellent over fried tofu and fried tempeh.
