Save money and use up unpoppable popcorn by grinding your own cornmeal with a high-speed blender.
Yield: about 1 cup
Time: 5 minutes
Tools
- high-speed blender, such as a Vitamix
- colander (not too fine)
Ingredients
- 2 c unpopped popcorn
Directions
Place popcorn in blender and grind for 1-2 minutes.
Sift this powder through the colander. Transfer whatever gets sifted out back into the blender.
For corn flour, grind an extra minute and sift through a fine colander.
Notes
You can make cornmeal in Vitamix’s regular 64-ounce container, but if you have the dry container, it will work a little better.
Use this same technique for making speciality flours like chickpea flour.
