As a kid, baked beans (from a can) were one of my very favorite foods. Here’s my easy homemade update for adults.
Yield: 4 servings
Time: 1 hour
Tools
- medium Le Creuset pot or baking dish
- lid or tinfoil
- rubber spatula
Ingredients
- 2 c chickpeas, soaked and cooked or canned/drained/rinsed
- 1½ c barbecue sauce*
- ¼ bacon or smoked tofu, optional
Directions
Preheat oven to 300.
Combine all the ingredients, cover, and bake for 50 minutes.
Serve hot.

* or Fruity BBQ sauce or Quick BBQ sauce or any other you like.
