Cranberry Sauce

What would Thanksgiving dinner be without this sweet-tart, jelly-like sauce?

Yield 3½ cups
Time 15 minutes + chilling time
  • small saucepan
  • wooden spoon
  • bowl
  • 1½ c sugar
  • 1½ c water or water/orange juice mixed
  • 1 t grated or minced orange zest
  • 4 c fresh cranberries
Directions Mix the sugar, liquid, and zest in the saucepan and boil for 5 minutes.

Add the cranberries, lower heat, and simmer until the berries are tender and the skins have popped, about 5-6 minutes.

Transfer to a bowl and chill until the sauce has jelled.

Notes Can be served with dinner or as a dessert.
