Oat milk is one of the easiest non-dairy milks to make.
Yield: about a quart
Time: 10 minutes
Tools
- Vitamix or other high-speed blender
- nut-milk bag or fine mesh strainer
- large bowl
- rubber spatula
- 1-quart bottle with cap
Ingredients
- 3 c water
- ¾ c whole rolled oats
- pinch of salt
- 1 t sugar or other sweetener (optional)
Directions
Place everything in blender and blend at high speed for a minute.
Suspend the nut-milk bag or strainer over the bowl and slowly pour the milk in. You might have to do this in batches.
Gently massage the bag or press the strainer to help the oat milk strain into the bowl.
Transfer the oat milk to the bottle and keep refrigerated for up to 5 days.
Notes
Don’t worry if the milk separates in the fridge; just shake well before using.
