vegetarian Recipe: Plum Sorbet

Sweet, tart, and very "plummy," this plum sorbet is made without an ice cream machine.

Yield 3 cups
Time 15 minutes + freezing time
Tools
  • knife
  • blender or food processor
  • freezer-safe bowl
  • wooden spoon
Ingredients
  • 1 pound plums, unpeeled
  • 1 c orange juice
  • 3 T sugar
  • 1 T orange liqueur
  • 1 T lemon juice
Directions Cut the plums in half, remove the pit, and place plum pieces in blender. Add remaining ingredients and purée. Taste and add more sugar or lemon juice as needed.

Pour into bowl and freeze.

After four hours, remove from freezer and blend again.

Return to freezer for at least a half hour before serving.

Notes You can use apple or white grape juice instead of orange.

Also try peach sorbet and orange sorbet.
