Salt-and-Pepper Tofu

Quick and simple recipe for crispy, flavorful tofu. Salt and pepper tofu
Yield 2 servings
Time 20 minutes
  • large frying pan
  • tongs
  • plate
  • small bowl
  • wooden spoon
  • 2½ T oil, divided
  • 12 oz extra-firm tofu, cut into strips and patted dry
  • 1 t pepper
  • ½ t smoked paprika
  • ¼ t salt
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Heat two T oil over medium-high heat, add tofu, and fry for about 7 minutes, until golden brown and crisp. Turn and fry the other side.

Meanwhile, combine the spices in the bowl.

When the tofu is ready, transfer to a plate and add the rest of the oil to the pan along with onions and garlic.

Sauté for a minute, then add tofu and spice mixture and toss to coat.

Serve hot.
