Aïoli
If you've never tasted this garlicky mayonnaise, you're in for a real treat.
Alfredo Sauce
A rich and creamy Italian sauce, usually served over fettucine. It's also
delectable in spinach lasagna and with ravioli.
Almond Cookies
Almond cookies from China (and some Chinese restaurants) are light and
crispy.
Anisette Soufflé, Frozen
Frozen soufflés make a nice, light dessert after a rich
meal. This recipe calls for anise-flavored liqueur, but you could use
another flavor like orange or hazelnut instead. Antipasto
Antipasto, which means "before food" in Italian, is a salad-like
appetizer consisting of various fresh and pickled vegetables, cheeses, and
rolled or sliced meats. For vegetarian antipasto, you can either subsitute mock
meat products or leave them out altogether.
Aphrodisiacs
You probably know that oysters are an aphrodisiac, but as a vegetarian,
that doesn't do you much good. Here are some vegetarian aphrodisiacs to
consider for Valentine's day or some other occasion for a romantic meal.
Appetizers, Snacks, and Side Dishes
This page includes recipes for vegetarian side dishes, snacks, and appetizers
like French "fries," roasted peppers, Spanish rice, and more. Apple Burgers Sweet, tart, and slightly crunchy, these apple burgers might sound weird, but they definitely taste good.
Apple Pie
Autumn is just around the corner, and I can't think of a better way to welcome
it than with a homemade apple pie.
Applesauce
Sure you could just buy it at the store, but homemade applesauce is one of the
all-time great treats.
Apricot Cherry Compote
It's easy to make compote: just stew up some dried fruit and enjoy
it with dessert. Apricot-Nut Bread
This is a lovely, slightly sweet bread - great for breakfast or dessert.
Artichoke Soup
This garlicky artichoke soup is very easy to make.
Artichoke & Spinach Dip
This is a lovely dip, easily made vegan and served warm.
Arugula Salad
Arugula isn't to everyone's taste, as it has a slightly spicy, peppery
flavor. For those who can't get enough of it, this salad with toasted
pine nuts will hit the spot.
Arugula Toasts
These elegant little appetizers are quick and easy to prepare and
absolutely delicious.
Asian recipes
Tofu, originally from China, and tempeh, originally from Indonesia,
are very common in Asian cuisine. In addition, meat other than fish
is relatively uncommon, so there are all kinds of vegetarian recipes in Asian cuisine.
Here are just a few of my favorites.
Asparagus, broiled
Broiled asparagus topped with cheesy bread crumbs is the perfect
dish for spring.
Asparagus Leek Soup
A lovely, rich soup made with asparagus, leeks, and mushrooms and
topped with a corn and bell pepper garnish.
Asparagus Salad
Asparagus, olives, mint, bell pepper, and onion - a nice mix for a
summer salad. Autumn Salad Or fall salad, if you prefer. A colorful and flavorful salad to enjoy when the weather changes and the leaves begin to fall.
Avocado Hemp Dressing
Avocado blended with garlic and hemp oil makes an unusual and delicious
salad dressing. Avocado Soup Chilled soups are wonderful in the summertime, and they tend to be incredibly easy to prepare. This creamy avocado soup is no exception.
Avocado Tomato Salad
This is one
of the simplest salads ever, and absolutely delicious.
